We've Made History

Today America has made history!!  We've made history.  We're dancing in the streets, we're crying, we're witnessing something we literally NEVER thought we'd see.

Hey Black Chick,
First of all, thanks God that Obama made it. I was min by min seeing the victory of many America esp. Afro-Americans.

I've seen your YouTube vlog about moving to Saudi Arabia which is my country :)
I'm not sure whether you've already moved or you're going to move soon. Anyway, you gonna love it, I suppose. You cannot imagine how Saudis like to make relationships with Westerns esp. in the KSA.
I'm a Saudi who are studying in AUS and when I moved 2 years ago, I felt like I will miss Islamic culture, people or even be offended because of my nationality/religion. But I found that it was positively different.

I wish you a nice and wonderful stay in Saudi Arabia and if you have any Qs please ask.

I haven't left yet. As of now I leave on the 28th of December, just in time for the New Year. My husband is already there, and has been there for the past ~18 months (coming home every 10 wks for 3 wks), living in Dhahran. I think I’m going to enjoy the experience. I do have some anxiety about how I’ll do, with everything really. I hope I meet other Saudi women; I love meeting new people, especially people from different cultures. My husband is Swedish, and I lived with him for a short while in Stockholm, and I had Swedish friends. However, I sometimes wonder if that’s possible in Saudi Arabia, as I think I’m the complete opposite of Saudi women, and I don’t know how tolerant they really would be. My opinions would be considered radical, and definitely too liberal. So…then I would feel as if I can’t let down my guard. I don’t know. I hope this isn’t the case…time will tell.

Tell me... (1) What are you studying, (2) Where are you from in the KSA, and (3) What would be your #1 words of advice for me on how to interact (generally) when meeting a Saudi woman.?

Wow nice I'll be there in December for a holiday and I'm from Riyadh the capital city of KSA. Here I'm studying Masters in food studies.
How to interact with Women there?
It is not that hard and don't think that you need a manual to interact with them (smile)
You will find many things that you are sharing together. However, you may face some differences in terms of religion or segregation (women and men) and life priorities.
But generally, Saudi women are attached strongly to their families and they like to gather frequently so, it won't be a problem for you to find friends. Indeed, most of them are open-minded esp. who can speak English.
But believe me, I cannot convey the reality 100%. You need to discover it yourself.
Cheers,
