So...we're on vacation in San Diego. Traveling back and forth between San Diego, & LA. The weather was nice....I was in my element. My element being; I'm driving, my music is semi-cranked, my sunroof is open, and I'm just cruising. I go by Starbucks...pick up my drink; a double shot of Espresso, and a Iced Passion Tea Lemonade (I like to think of it as 2 shots and a back lol)...then I head to Venice Beach (it could be any beach for that matter, but in this case it was Venice beach). I'm cruising. The day is beautiful...people are hanging and I'm people watching. That's when I do it. I decide I need more time...Im not ready to go back to Saudi Arabia. So...I'm staying a few extra weeks.
Forgive me for being incommunicado but, I'm having too much fun. I'll be back in the Sand Pit in a coupla more weeks. Then when I've recovered from jet lag...and I'm back to the "routine"...I'll be back to blogging.
These photos were taken while I was driving to Venice Beach on that very day. This is what I saw, and all I could think was...I don't want to leave.

Good call! LOL.
I wouldn't want to leave either. Have fun.
I would have done the same thing! Have fun :)
Yep. Every single day...I'm still thinking..."good call". I'm so glad I decided to stay. But, now, I've gotten to the point where I want to go home, and home is where my husband and stuff is located.
CALI LOVIN
i could never leave cali for saudi..I'd die or something. lol
@MiMI LOL. You wouldn't die...but you might just hate it sometimes; alot. The good news is that I always have a home in San Diego, so I can come back any time I want. Thank Goodness!!
Man, I wish it were that nice here right at the moment...but it is spring so the temperatures are nicer and there isn't a lot of snow left :D I was able to bring out the barbeque a couple days ago! Keep on having fun in California, looks like I'll have to put San Diego on my list of places to travel to :)
Hi Mel! Yea...SanDiego is a must go to destination, as is a lot of Southern California. I took some great photos of the full moon rising over the mountains, which give s a different loo, to what most people typically see about San Diego. Maybe I will post it on my blog.
Hi, I saw your video on youtube and I wanted to make a comment. I think you're being very harsh. I lived in RT for 17 years, and you're right, things are very different from the states for sure. You need to hang out with people who have been there for a while, they know how to get things done. They know who to call in maintenance that can actually help you and who to talk to at the school and who has the 411 on the good parties and who makes the best wine or the best brown. They also know all the secrets as far as coping, easy meals that can be made with what is available, no such thing as salad in a bag in Saudi. But there a lot of trick to trade that you can pick up from people who have been there a long time. Just a thought for you to make the transition a little easier because I totally understand because I'm dealing with the change in the opposite way, moving back to the states after 17 years is hard too.
Hello DancingFairy, Thanks for stopping by. So what if I'm being very harsh. On the other hand, there are those who have judged me harshly. And, my thoughts are...so what; still. I'm "adjusting" to my life in Saudi, for as long as I'm there. I have friends, I'm socializing, and I'm getting involved in the activities in which I want to be involved in. I'm like 99.9% sure I will not miss much (besides my friends) when I leave Saudi. Good luck to you in your transition to moving back to your country.
I'll miss only one thing when it is time for us to go home. My houseboy. That's it. And I'm certain I will have no problems readjusting to life in the US.
Hi!
I'm from SA (South Africa) and I saw your vid on Youtube. I spent a few months in Bahrain last year (met plenty of Saudis) and what I disliked the most was the lack of warmth from the locals. Surely you experienced the same? When I arrived back in SA I was so relieved & vowed not go back, but I must say I do miss my friends and the "adventure" of toughing it on my own very much.
Wish you all the best and I'll keep reading and watching.
Peace
Zee
Hey I live in Dhahran and I have been growing up here since 2010. I just love the whole idea behind your blog how you are this awesome black woman living in a place that is out of your element. There is a totally different kind of culture being a westerner in the middle east. :)
Growing up here since 2010?
